Rafael Rocks

Move over Roger, lets welcome the new king of tennis. If there was any doubt as to Nadal's numero uno status in tennis today, the doubts have vanished with his amazing display to beat Federer to win his first hard court grand slam. In a surface that does not suit Rafael's physical game, he endured 10 hours of marathon tennis in the semifinal and final put together to emerge a true champion. Hats off to Nadal. Not only is he the best player today, he is without doubt the toughest mentally and probably the fittest player in the history of the game.

The victory sets up a great year for Nadal. He can go all out for a calendar slam, the legendary Rod Laver being the last to do so almost 40 years ago. Nadal would be a firm favourite at the French Open and the Championships at the All England Club. The US open is probably the quickest of the 4 surfaces and the trickiest for him. But with the confidence of beating the great Federer at the hard courts of the Aussie open, a victory at the US open is definitely within reach. Lets wait and watch the new king at work.
