A Treat for Fans - Wimbledon Men's Final 2007

It was the perfect setting. After 10 days of miserable weather, the English summer arrived at the right time, perhaps a harbinger for the tennis to follow. It was of course the No 1 and No 2 players in the world battling it out in the Wimbledon Final. After the match, many said that this was one of the best Wimbledon finals that was played for at least 2 decades ( i beg to differ, i thought the Goran, Patrick Rafter final, played 7 years back was as good as this).

A big fan of Federer, i was in a way sorry to see Nadal lose, i thought he played just about perfect tennis in the first 4 sets. We saw the Fedex magic come to the forefront in the fifth set as he hit some stunning winners to break Nadal twice to clinch the match. The scoreline read
7-6 4-6 7-6 2-6 6-2 in just under 4 hours.

The tennis was of the highest quality, the groundstrokes breathtaking, Nadal matching Federer's antics at the net with his own brilliant volleying skills. No doubt Nadal has improved his grass court game, there is no doubt at all that Nadal would win Wimbledon in the near future.

With the rivalry between the two hitting its peak, its interesting to see what will happen at the US open. Nadal is definitely closing in on Federer, but for those following the genius of Federer all these years, I am sure he has more than an ace up his sleeve.
